Jamui (Bihar): In a significant development for rural healthcare infrastructure, the State Health Society of Bihar has granted administrative approval for the construction of three new Additional Primary Health Centres (APHCs) in the Jhajha Assembly constituency. The move comes following the consistent efforts of Jhajha MLA Damodar Rawat, who has been advocating for improved healthcare services in the region.
According to the official communication, the new APHCs will be established at the following locations:
1. Budhikhar (Jhajha Block)
2. Chay (Jhajha Block)
3. Matia (Lakshmipur Block)
Each APHC will be constructed with a budget allocation of ₹1.30 crore, funded under the 15th Finance Commission of the Government of India. The construction work will be executed by the Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited (BMSICL), Patna.

The announcement has sparked widespread joy and appreciation across the constituency. Locals have hailed MLA Damodar Rawat as a ‘Vikas Purush’ (Man of Development) and praised his persistent advocacy for essential services such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

“This approval is the result of years of demand from the people of Jhajha. I consistently raised this issue both in the Assembly and with the Health Department. This will strengthen the rural health system and ensure that people no longer have to travel far for basic treatment.”
He further noted that the APHCs would provide accessible and quality health services to thousands of villagers, significantly improving the healthcare landscape in the region.
Quality Assurance and Monitoring
The State Health Society has directed that before initiating the construction, it must be confirmed that the proposed projects are not already approved under any other scheme. Additionally, third-party quality assurance has been made mandatory to ensure transparency and high standards in construction.
BMSICL has been instructed to submit monthly progress reports and utilization certificates to the State Health Society to maintain accountability throughout the process.
