Gold Traders Must Be Given One-Year Livelihood Allowance : Dhananjay, Socialist Leader

Patna, Bihar May 14, 2026 : The Bihar State President of the Socialist Party (India) has demanded that the Prime Minister provide a one-year subsistence allowance to all small and large gold traders; otherwise, after the Prime Minister’s sudden announcement, how will they support their families and pay the school and college fees of their children?

Prime Minister’s Appeal Increases Concern Among Gold Traders
It may be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the people of the country not to purchase gold for one year. Several gold traders have objected to this appeal, stating that if the Prime Minister had appealed to reduce gold purchases, they could still have managed to survive somehow. However, the Prime Minister has effectively called for a complete halt to gold purchases, which has created anxiety among the families of gold traders and their dependent employees.

Socialist Party Attacks Modi Government’s Policies
In this context, the Bihar State President of the Socialist Party (India) stated that Prime Minister Modi does not seriously consider the consequences before making statements or taking decisions. According to him, this is the reason why the country has entered a phase of economic slowdown.

Demand for Financial Assistance to Traders and Employees
Mr. Sinha demanded that the Modi Government provide all gold traders with financial assistance equivalent to at least 50% of their annual net profit, calculated on the basis of their income tax returns, to be paid in monthly installments for one year. He also demanded that employees working in their establishments should receive assistance amounting to 50% of their monthly salaries so that they can continue supporting their families and children’s education during the next one year.

Demand for ₹25,000 Monthly Assistance for Small Gold Traders
Socialist leader Dhananjay also demanded that small gold traders who did not file income tax returns but had registered gold shops should also be provided a minimum financial assistance of ₹25,000 per month for the next one year.
