Racketeers luring Young Girls into Prostitution: Dhananjay

Patna/Bihar, January 5, 2026 - Dhananjay Kumar Sinha, State President of Socialist Party (India), has alleged that some organized rackets are systematically luring young girls from poor backgrounds, who come to Patna for studies after 12th standard, into prostitution. This has been happening for the past 5-10 years, and it's the state's responsibility to stop it.

In this regard, Dhananjay has written to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, demanding an immediate inquiry committee to investigate and take action against such rackets.

Reacting to the derogatory statement made by Giridhari Lal Sahu, husband of Uttarakhand's female minister, about Bihar's girls, Dhananjay said it's an insult to all Biharis. The Bihar government should condemn it, but instead, they've remained silent.

Dhananjay revealed that he's heard discussions about girls from other districts coming to Patna for studies, mostly staying in private hostels, being lured into prostitution by women-led gangs offering financial incentives. These girls are referred to as "call girls" in Patna.

He emphasized that while he doesn't advocate restricting adult women's freedom to make choices, the government must curb the racket exploiting young, vulnerable girls. Once trapped, it's tough to rescue them.

The Socialist Party (India) urges:
Immediate Inquiry: Form a committee to investigate the matter
Student Safety App: Create an app for girls to access government aid and report complaints
Awareness Campaigns: Display guidelines and posters in colleges, hostels, and public places
Social Media Awareness: Launch awareness campaigns on social media
Action Against Rackets: Identify and take action against such rackets
